Date Recorded: Tuesday, May 19, 2015
The Student Progression Model of PhysEd Instruction was developed over several years of team teaching and professional collaboration with some fantastic colleagues. It has completely changed the way I teach! The model differentiates the instruction by allowing those that have a good grasp of the skill to move on while recognizing those that need additional practice. The instruction is standards-based and focused on authentic skill development in each student. In fact, the assessments are used as motivators and allow the students to communicate to the teacher what they know and where they need assistance.
- The learner will be introduced to the Student Progression Model of Instruction (SPMI).
- The learner will explore how to develop units of instruction based on the SPMI.
- The learner will explore how to manage instruction while implementing the SPMI.
- The learner will explore how to motivate students through assessment and how to use the results of those assessments to inform their instruction.
