"Take home fitness kits" are a tool that elementary physical educators can use to connect with students individually, as well as provide valuable home-school connections with families. These kits include a "fitness friend," a book, a journal and a packet of fitness information for families. With the new emphasis on the Common Core, this program also provides a way to introduce reading and writing into the PE curriculum without using valuable class time.
- Participants will be introduced to the history and the use of take home fitness kits in elementary physical education.
- Participants will explore the many benefits of take home fitness kits, including how they can be incorporated into your annual teacher evaluation documents.
- Participants will learn the steps involved in creating a take home fitness kit and how to adopt take home fitness kits into their program.
