The 2018 OAHPERD Board and Council members are busy planning the 2018 convention, which will be held October 15-16 in Edmond, OK. Mike Kuczala, co-author of The Kinesthetic Classroom, will be the keynote speaker on Monday. More than 70 concurrent sessions will be provided on Monday and Tuesday for all participants.
     
Several OAHPERD members participated in the Oklahoma Teacher walk-out over nine days in April. The Oklahoma legislature passed a salary increase for Oklahoma teachers in addition to new revenue funds for the P-12 classrooms. Other members participated in the Let’s Fix It Day at the State Capital on May 9.

OAHPERD is proud of the members that received Southern District Awards at the 2018 SHAPE America National Convention & Expo in Nashville: Shanna Classen, Southern District Health Education Teacher of the Year; Darrien Watson, Future Professional of the Year; and the Oklahoma TSET as the Clyde W. Partin Community Partner.
