Margie R. Hanson Elementary Physical Education Distinguished Service Award

The Margie Hanson Distinguished Service Award is awarded for service and educational contributions to physical education in the early childhood or elementary levels.

The recipient shall:
Eligibility
  • Currently be a member of SHAPE America and shall have held such membership for at least three (3) years.
  • Have had a successful career over a period of 20 or more years.
Award Criteria
  • Demonstrate service to physical education for early childhood or elementary level.
  • Provide leadership at local, state, and national levels.
  • Make educational contributions of national significance in physical education for young children.
Margie R. Hanson

Margie R. Hanson was the Executive Director for the National Dance Association of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance for more than 30 years. She was nationally and internationally recognized for her leadership in physical education and dance for children.

To Submit a Nomination:

Read the general requirements. Include the following in the award submission:

  • Nomination form download
  • Curriculum vita (CV) not to exceed 10 pages. Reviewers will not read more than 10 pages.
  • Two (2) letters of support from nominators. Letters should specifically address the criteria for the award and how the person qualifies.
  • Biographical sketch (250-300 words)
