Saturday, January 27 (9 a.m. - 5 p.m.)

Implementing the National Standards and Grade-Level Outcomes for Elementary Physical Education / $75
This workshop is designed to help teachers of elementary physical education better understand and apply the newly revised national standards and grade-level outcomes. Information gained from the workshop will assist teachers in curriculum design and assessment of student learning in elementary physical education. Through both cognitive and psychomotor engagement, workshop participants will experience the grade-level outcomes leading to mature patterns of skill execution and their application in gymnastics, dance and games environments.

Instructor - Tina Hall

Tina Hall is an associate professor at Middle Tennessee State University and a former K-8 physical education teacher. She is also the co-author of several books, including: Lesson Planning for Elementary Physical Education: Meeting the National Standards and Grade-Level Outcomes.

Saturday, January 27 (1 - 4 p.m.)

A Primer for Teaching a Skills-Based Approach in Health Education / $50
This workshop provides the fundamentals of a skills-based approach to health education in which the focus is on developing student proficiency in the skills of the National Health Education Standards. There will be discussion on strategies for facilitating skill development through relevant and functional information. By the end of the workshop, participants will have the tools needed to transition to a skills-based approach to health education in their course, school and/or district.

Instructor - Holly Alperin

Holly Alperin is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Kinesiology - Health and Physical Education at the University of New Hampshire.
