Nutrition information can be so confusing that many people only know enough to think they are making good choices, when in fact they are not. This session will dispel some of the most common misconceptions related to nutrition and provide resources appropriate for both teachers and community educators.

Kids with M.V.P. powers become lifetime superheroes for health - M (move & stay active), V (value healthy eating), P (practice safe habits). In this session, What's in Your W.A.L.L.E.T? (Wonderful Activities Learners Like Every Time), you'll learn innovative activities, unique instructional formats, and fun fitness games designed to maximize skill development, increase fitness, assess learning, integrate academic content, and create lifetime M.V.P. superheroes.

Track 1 will include the basics of advocacy on the local, state and national levels, as well as strategies, resources and ideas on how to get your message out. Track 2 will include the planning of specific advocacy events (i.e., State SPEAK Out Day) and creation of specific advocacy tools (i.e., State Physical Education & Health Report Card). An advocacy plan will be developed in each session.

The presentation focuses on effective utilization of social media by athletic directors, coaches and school administrators to communicate information about their programs. We will review the social media platforms currently being used by parents and fans, and discuss how athletic administrators can harness social media to benefit their high school programs.

Systems Thinking, Systems Changing is a simulation used by teachers, higher education and education leadership in workshop settings to experience what it takes to make effective systemic change in schools. In this session, Systems Thinking, Systems Changing: Implementing School Health Initiatives to Create Lasting Change, you'll learn about the structures and strategies schools need, how to address resistance you may face, and how to effectively move forward in a school. Systems include health and PE programs, initiatives, practices and policies that impact a school community.
