Are you being asked to incorporate more math into your physical education curriculum? Come learn how kinesthetic teaching strategies can teach physical education skills and improve math skills all at the same time! Learn several techniques for warm-ups, assessments and activities that will work on PE skills, but also allow students to have intentional and vigorous math practice! Learn a kinesthetic approach to teaching and practicing math skills that fits perfectly into PE classes without sacrificing the teaching of SHAPE America's National Standards for K-12 Physical Education.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will be provided with tools to incorporate math in the physical education setting.
  • Participants will be provided with specific activities/games that practice math in the physical education setting without taking away from teaching physical education standards and skills.
  • Participants will learn specific cross-body movements that students can use to practice specific physical education skills, while simultaneously practicing math skills.
  • Participants will discuss ways that PE teachers can be the advocate for movement-based learning in the classroom.
