The NHL STREET School Curriculum is a hockey-inspired physical education program designed to bring fun, active play, and teamwork into any school setting. Co-created with NHL STREET, the curriculum emphasizes inclusion, accessibility, and positive student experiences—ensuring that students of all abilities can participate, build skills, and enjoy the game.

This standards-based curriculum provides physical educators with a structured yet flexible approach to teaching hockey skills safely and effectively. Lessons focus on developing control, coordination, teamwork, and confidence through engaging, game-based activities that require minimal equipment and setup. Organized by grade band from primary through middle school, each lesson includes a warm-up, skill development, application through small-sided play or challenges, and a closing reflection.

Aligned with SHAPE America’s National Physical Education Standards and Grade-Level Outcomes, the curriculum supports developmentally appropriate learning across grade levels. Each lesson incorporates Content and Language Objectives (CLOs) to help students demonstrate and communicate their learning, along with opportunities to build Standards-Based Social Skills (SBSS) such as cooperation, respect, and sportsmanship.

Designed for ease of implementation, the curriculum features consistent equipment, clear organization, and built-in options for differentiation and assessment. Teachers can easily adapt lessons to their space, schedule, and student needs while maintaining clear learning goals.

By combining purposeful structure with opportunities for movement, communication, and reflection, the NHL STREET School Curriculum helps teachers deliver engaging, inclusive, and standards-based instruction that supports the whole child.
