SHAPE America is a member-driven organization, guided by volunteers. Our committed
volunteers are fundamental to
SHAPE America’s success and serve on program councils, publication review committees, and task forces.
As a volunteer, you’ll help shape the direction of SHAPE America and the profession. You’ll also meet new colleagues,
forge valuable and lasting relationships, and make a difference on the key issues affecting health and physical
educators.
We are committed to fostering greater equity, diversity, and inclusion within our member community – and within our
volunteer leadership opportunities. We hope you’ll get involved!
Volunteer opportunities open in the fall of every year.
Being a volunteer for SHAPE America is all about contributing to the idea that physical education is an
inclusive experience that possesses the ability to better the physical, mental, and emotional lives of the
students we serve. Physical Education must continue to evolve in order to reach its full
potential. As a volunteer of the national organization, I believe SHAPE America has every intention of pushing
physical education to reach its full potential. That’s why I’m a volunteer.

Through serving as a volunteer leader, I am able to get reenergized even more often through the work I am doing with SHAPE America.
I love serving as a volunteer leader for SHAPE America because I am able to connect with amazing teachers everywhere! I also love that I am able to give back to the organization that helps motivate me to be a better teacher. I have been a SHAPE America member since I was in college and every time I go to a national convention, I get reenergized to go back to my students and work harder for them. I am able to stay current in best practices and gain new ideas from teachers all over the world.

Having the opportunity to serve alongside some of the most passionate and driven teachers and advocates in the field allows us to accomplish great things together through the power of many.
Serving SHAPE America at the State, District, and National levels has afforded me the opportunity to be an advocate for the two most important things in our lives…Health and Physical Education. If you are thinking about serving…please do! We need fresh ideas and passionate energy to lead SHAPE into the future!
