Greetings from the Research Council!
We are pleased to share the spring edition of Research in Motion, a newsletter highlighting scholarly work in health, physical education, and allied fields.
Our purpose in sharing this information is to bridge research to practice within the SHAPE America community.
In March, SHAPE America held the National Convention & Expo
in Kansas City. The Research Council supported 87 research presentations (symposia, oral sessions, and posters) across 17 sessions. Research programming also included a Works in Progress session, a Graduate Student Forum, and Coffee Talks.
In addition, three scholar lectures were given (named for C.H. McCloy, Raymond A. Weiss, and Daryl Siedentop), three Special Interest Group lectures were presented, six Research Fellows were inducted, and the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award was announced.
Finally, four recipients (graduate student and early career investigator) of the Thomas McKenzie Research Grant were presented.
We hope this newsletter and our webpage
provide helpful resources for you to stay engaged with scholarship relevant to your professional work between now and the next national convention, which will be April 7-10, 2027, in Charlotte, NC.
