Midwest District Awards
All Midwest District members are welcome to nominate deserving individuals for the awards listed below.

Honor Award
Bestowed on an individual who is clearly outstanding in his/her profession with long and distinguished service to health, physical education, recreation, dance, and/or sport.
Meritorious Service Award
Recognizes an individual who has demonstrated distinguished service to health, physical education, recreation, dance, and/or sport. Recipients are persons of personal integrity who exemplify the spirit of devoted service to the profession.
Scholar Program
Recognizes an individual with an outstanding record of scholarly publications and presentations and active service to health, physical education, recreation, dance, and/or sport.
Young Professional Award
Recognizes a younger member of SHAPE America who has demonstrated outstanding potential in teaching, scholarship, and service. The recipient shall have demonstrated a quality of performance that, if continued, indicates that he/she will develop into a distinguished member of the profession.
Outstanding Student Award
Recognizes an undergraduate student who has displayed distinctive leadership and meritorious service to his/her profession of health, physical education, recreation, dance, and/or sport.
Recreation Professional/Leisure Educator of the Year Award
Recognizes the work of an individual who exhibits outstanding and creative leadership in the recreation profession or as an innovative leisure educator at the college/university level.
Midwest Association for College and University Physical Education (MACUPE) Scholar/Lecture Award
Recognizes a female member who has demonstrated distinguished service to health, physical education, recreation, dance, and/or sport.
Teacher of the Year Awards
The SHAPE America Teacher of the Year program recognizes outstanding teachers in adapted physical education, school health education, dance education, and physical education at the elementary, middle and high school levels.
To be eligible for a Midwest District Teacher of the Year award, members must have received their state's Teacher of the Year award. States should submit applications of their state winners to Tammy Brant, Midwest District awards chair, by September 15.
